Wrapping up 2024 in style: Christmas party and sponsored ride

As the year drew to a close, we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than by combining fun, ponies and a good cause! So we ended 2024 with a festive bang! – our very own Christmas party and a sponsored fun ride.

A Day Of Festive Cheer.

Our ponies stole the show, as always taking part in the fun ride with their usual charm and spirit. Dressed up in festive gear we were busy raising funds for ‘The Friends Of The Dartmoor Hill pony’. A charity close to our hearts who helps to look after the semi-wild ponies on Dartmoor. It was heartwarming to see everyone come together, sharing smiles, laughter and a love of the ponies. We even had a nativity scene in Bel Tor car park where the children enjoyed a mince pie and a hot chocolate.

Elf-ing Around.

Of course, no Christmas would be complete without a bit of festive fancy dress! I embraced the spirit of the season by dressing up as an elf- pointy hat, green tights, rosy cheeks the works!! Seeing the smile on everyone’s face made it all worthwhile, and I admit, it was a lot of fun. The ponies rocked their festive antlers, tinsel and baubles and even had jingly bells attached to their head collars. Our last session of 2024 finished with a very yummy Christmas party complete with crackers to pull, bad jokes, mince pies, and of course carrots for the ponies!

We couldn’t have done all our good work in 2024 without the incredible support from our sponsors, staff, volunteers and participants. We have had some amazing support from different companies and organisations including the National Lottery which has enabled us to provide funded or part-funded sessions for people who have really benefitted from working with our gentle ponies.

Looking Ahead To 2025.

As we move into the new year, we are filled with excitement for what’s to come. Horses4life has big plans in store- more equine assisted learning, more events, and, of course, more opportunities to support our community and causes close to our hearts. We are planning a few day courses which will be aimed at those who feel they need to restore and renew their energy and inner calm using our wonderful herd of gentle ponies….watch this space!
