Autumn

Goodbye Summer

horses 4 lifeWell, we seem to have said a sad farewell to summer 2024 and are swiftly moving into autumn. The ponies have all lost their summer coats and have grown their ‘winter woollies’ in readiness for the colder weather.

We have had a wonderful summer and took part in the HAF programme with Devon County Council. Over 100 children visited us from all over Devon.

We had great fun doing pony agility and pony painting. Each day, we competed to see which group had the best mucking-out skills!

We did some great cooking together. One of my favourite days was our Food from the Worlds Day! We cooked food from 17 different countries, which the children tasted. Tori had made flags, so the children placed the flag in the food they thought came from that country.

The children and parents rated their experience with us as excellent, which was very rewarding.
As we moved into September, we said goodbye to a few of our older students as they moved onto new pastures, but we welcomed back some familiar faces and a few new ones.

Today, we took Rockstar and Odin on a nature hunt, looking for things beginning with the letter B. We also looked at the old water wheel and sat on the fairy bridge and wondered how it would have looked 100 Years ago.

The ponies have all enjoyed having a nice groom, and they have some huge straw beds tonight, which we all felt were good enough for us to sleep in.
